    Le site Todotango donne 1927 ou 1929 comme dates de composition.
    Le texte décrit l’amertume et la honte d’un voyou qui s’est dérobé à un duel par peur de ne plus revoir sa belle.
    Inauguré par Azucena Maizani en 1928, dans un numéro de la revue Fiesta de Tango, au théâtre Astral. Benedetti raconte la légende de la genèse de ce tango, selon laquelle, le 28 septembre 1928, le jour de la première de la revue, Discépolo et Maizani ont cherché Filiberto à Buenos Aires pour lui faire terminer la musique et l'ont finalement rencontré dans la rue Magallanes où là même, en public, ils ont terminé le travail... Mais le premier enregistrement de Maizani, dix jours avant, contredit cette légende.
    Ce tango a été joué dans sa version instrumentale par l'orchestre de Filiberto dans le premier film sonore argentin Tango !, de Luis José Moglia Barth, en 1933.
