    Le thème a été créé comme chanson en 1924 par le baryton Daniel Arroyo au Teatro Regis de Mexico. Deux ans plus tard, Berto, en tournée à Mexico, rencontre Martínez Serrano et lui propose d'adapter cette chanson en tango, et en partageant les bénéfices. De retour à Buenos Aires, ce tango rencontre un grand succès et fait l'objet de nombreux enregistrements.
